This should not be too much of a surprise. According to Responsible Investor:
“Former Amazon employees have filed a shareholder proposal asking the e-commerce giant to issue a report explaining how it will meet its greenhouse gas emissions commitments ‘given the massively growing energy demand from artificial intelligence and data centres that Amazon is planning to build’. Amazon is attempting to ‘no action’ the resolution with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, claiming it seeks to micromanage the company. Proposals focused on AI’s environmental footprint have also been filed at Alphabet and Digital Realty Trust for the 2025 season.”
We’ll see how this goes.
