Here is an X post claiming to show a photo of a leaked memo containing a list of environmental and sustainability terms the USDA’s Research Service division is banning in agreements. If real, banned words include
- “greenhouse gas emissions,”
- “methane emissions,”
- “solar energy,”
- “diesel,”
- “runoff,”
- “water pollution,”
- “soil pollution,”
- “groundwater pollution,”
- “water collection,”
- “water conservation,”
- “water quality,”
- “water treatment,”
- “clean water,”
- “safe drinking water,”
- “PFAS/PFOA,” and
- “PCBs”
Luckily, it appears “agriculture” is still safe. If you plan on working with USDA’s Research Service, better bone up on your banned words.
